Casting: The Victims

We needed to start casting who could play any possible victims for our title sequence and who could feature in it, in the form of videos or photos. To do this, we had a few people interested and asked them to come and see how they would react when on camera. We took some head shots, to use for reference, then did a small take of ‘laughing’. This included making the actors try and perform a realistic laughter, then to remain emotionless in another take. The reason for this is to make sure the actors could perform the emotional needs without breaking out of character. This is extremely useful as we need ‘victims’ that can remain still, don’t blink and look emotionless. 

Casted Actors:

Chloe Sousa – Victim 1

We picked Chloe to play victim 1 for our title sequence, as she was easily able to perform different emotions on cue, and followed instructions extremely well. She fits the profile of the victim, as she is young, well behaved and has a lovely attitude towards her work. She fits the age range of 16-18 and helps bring forward the sub-plot of young quiet girls being murdered for just being very good at school, a form of jealousy. Chloe has experience in drama performances from school for about 3 years. Chloe will be playing ‘Victim 1’ whom is murdered by ‘Rose’ our murderer by a blow to the head and is left outside to freeze.

Sophie Cuerden – Victim 2

Our other cast member is Sophie, she will be taking the role of ‘Victim 2’ who had her cut throat by Rose. She also had a bubbly personality and worked well with the tests. She did very well with the emotional acting tests and went on to be used as practice for our fake blood creation. We also picked Sophie because she is within the right age range (16-18) and is available for shooting fairly soon. She has little experience but did such a good job in the casting process that we decided that we needed to cast her.

Casting Reel – Laughing Takes

Below is a video of some of the laughing takes that we did, we decided to not record sound as that would alter our opinions on what their faces are portraying in the scene. We wanted to see pure expressions and not to be hindered by sound.
